WORKSHOP HELD ON PREPARATION OF MID-TERM STRATEGIC PLAN FOR PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION REFORM COORDINATOR’S OFFICE

The workshop on preparation of the mid-term strategic framework and action plan for the Public Administration Reform Coordinator’s Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2013 until 2015 was held in Fojnica 18-19 March 2013. Workshop was organised as part of the Programme for Strengthening of Public Institutions in BiH.  

Based on previously defined mission and vision of the Office and an analysis of external and internal environment (SWOT), participants actively worked on the creation of long-term goals and a programme. The workshop resulted in defining the first version of strategic goals and a programme of the Office. In future indicators will be defined, which will help to measure the implementation of goals and programme and establishment of an action plan. Action plan will include defined detailed activities of each goal, a responsible person and deadlines for their implementation.

The goal of this cooperation segment in the framework of the Programme for Strengthening of Public Institutions in BiH is improvement in efficiency and the effectiveness of the Office, foremost the coordination of responsible persons, through capacity building and improvement of mid-term planning. 
 
Through mid-term strategic approach the better coordination with all partners in the reform will be provided, effective provision of technical and advisory service to key institutions in the implementation of public administration reform in BiH.
 
What is strategic planning? Strategic planning is an organizational management activity that is used to set priorities, focus energy and resources, strengthen operations, ensure that employees and other stakeholders are working toward common goals, establish agreement around intended outcomes/results, and assess and adjust the organization’s direction in response to a changing environment.
