On the first day of this school year 77 pupils received a donation of more than 1.000 textbooks and 1.500 notebooks, which will prepare them even better for the coming school year. Pupils who received this donation are coming from primary schools „Antun Branko Šimić“ from Mostar, „Georgi Stojkov Rakovski“ from Banja Luka and „Mehmedalija Mak Dizdar“ from Sarajevo.

The Agency for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Education cooperated with these schools during a pilot phase of the recently developed software for collection, evaluation and distribution of data for external evaluation of pupil's achievements. Principals, teachers and especially the pupils showed a high degree of commitment and cooperation during the software testing phase. The pupils who participated in the simulation of a real external evaluation of their knowledge are awarded with complete sets of textbooks, notebooks, pencils and pencil cases for the coming school year.

Maja Stojkić, Director of the Agency for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina said on this occasion that with support of the Programme for Strengthening Public Institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina a tailored cut software SOPO was developed which will facilitate fast, simple and transparent processes of data collection and distribution for external evaluation of pupil`s achievements.

”This software will help us to conduct our activities in a shorter time and the results of external evaluations will be much sooner available for pupils, parents, schools, pedagogical institutes and ministries of education. Also, it is my great pleasure that today, on the first school day, we made the pupils happy with new textbooks and I wish them a lot of luck for their further education“, Ms Stojkić said.

Sincere gratitude for this donation was expressed by the principals of the primary schools, Ms Irena Martinović, Mr Munib Kukavica and Mr Dušan Mišljenović. They stressed that the donated textbooks are a great gift for the first school day and that this is a huge relief for the parents of these 77 pupils.
